2019: APGA aspirant, 400 members join SDP in Abia, blast former party over imposition

About 400 members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia state, have dumped the party for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
The leader of the defectors and a House of Assembly aspirant during the just concluded APGA primaries in Abia, Hon Chukwuemeka Osoagbaka, who spoke with newsmen, at a press conference held on Thursday, in Umuahia, the state capital, said they left the party for SDP because of one man show and the leadership crisis at the state chapter of APGA.
Osoagbaka, who was a former Abia lawmaker and seeking reelection for Ikwuano state constituency seat come 2019 said, “We had that attraction for APGA as a party that was kind of regionalized at that time. But, in APGA, we found out that the party had a lot of drama to deal with. And we weren’t quite prepared for that kind of drama, we had to leave.
“I and others joined SDP, because it is the party of the moderates. You can find a lot of technocrats there. You should also know that SDP is not a new party, it has been there and has a national spread.
“We are over 400 members of APGA from Ikwuano local government area that joined SDP. We joined with entire structures.
“And I’m assuring you that SDP has come to stay in Ikwuano and Abia as a whole. SDP will win in Ikwuano and form the next government in Abia come 2019.
“You can see, there is lack of government presence in the local government area and the state. We will bring democracy dividends to the doorsteps of the people.
Meanwhile, the Abia state chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Hon. Chidi Nwosu, has vowed that his party, the SDP, will unseat Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration in the upcoming 2019 election in the state.
Nwosu, a former member of Abia House of Assembly, made this known in an interview with select journalists in Umuahia, explaining that the Peoples Democratic Party-led government in the state, has failed in all facets of governance and urged the people to join hands with SDP to enthrone good leadership in Abia come 2019.
