Music Sinew

The influence of music on society can be clearly seen from modern history. Music helped Thomas Jefferson write the Declaration of Independence. When he could not figure out the right wording for a certain part, he would play his violin to help him. The music helped him get the words from his brain onto the paper.

A world without music would be void and null, an epitome of boredom, and an adventure of endless prayers.

Music can be define as a sound not just any sound but a pleasing sound to the ear, it could also be a guide to playing a particular tune.

Music to a child would be a lullaby to rock her to that sweet sleep he/she had been longing for.

Music should be embraced and admitted in the society, it should be use as a medium to communicate, treat, and even taught in classrooms.

Music lovers should keep on loving it and the haters should stop hating and castigating it, if only they know its potency then they would embrace it too.

It cannot be proven that two people can feel the exact same thing from hearing a piece of music. For example, early missionaries to Africa thought that the nationals had bad rhythm. The missionaries said that when the nationals played on their drums it sounded like they were not beating in time. However, it was later discovered that the nationals were beating out complex polyrhythmic beats such as 2 against 3, 3 against 4, and 2 against 3 and 5, etc. These beats were too advanced for the missionaries to follow.

Speech and music have a number of shared processing systems. Musical experiences which enhance processing can therefore impact on the perception of language which in turn impacts on learning to read. Active engagement with music sharpens the brain’s early encoding of linguistic sound. Eight year old children with just 8 weeks of musical training showed improvement in perceptual cognition compared with controls.

Learning to play an instrument enhances the ability to remember words through enlargement of the left cranial temporal regions. Musically trained participants remembered 17% more verbal information that those without musical training.

Learning an instrument has an impact on intellectual development, particularly spatial reasoning. A review of 15 studies found a ‘strong and reliable’ relationship, the author likening the differences to one inch in height or about 84 points on standardised school tests. A study contrasting the impact of music lessons (standard keyboard, Kodaly voice) with drama or no lessons found that the music groups had reliably larger increases in IQ. Children in the control groups had average increases of 4.3 points while the music groups had increases of 7 points. On all but 2 of the 12 subtests the music group had larger increases than control groups.

Opera organizers cannot send an invitation to an American rap-group, what do you want them to say or sing?

They want music real music with eccentric lyrics and vocal cords, they don't need bunch of talkative that do not know their lyrics from lyrics, they just wake up one morning and start talking telling the world that they are singing.

Music should be listened and adorned with such carefulness and praise, music in India is considered to be sacred and mystical because the lyrics are so possessive and fetish.

In a case study on music production in Kogi state, it was discovered that record labels and music producers would rather pick an artiste from another state but to pick from Kogi would be like you picking your kola-nut from a muddy water, but these producers are wrong because just there are lots of raw talents in Kogi state, I am not saying these because I am an indigene but because I am sad and unhappy about the whole bias and partiality of these music producers, if they want music and real tunes then I am telling them this from the bottom of my heart to please stop castigating and making the people of Kogi to feel bad, it isn't fair, it is an act of ungodly prefix.

My final draw on all this will be the acceptance and embracement of music, because it will not only benefit us in some ways but also make us to know the true meaning of it.

Frog run over by lawnmower in Australia air-lifted for medical treatment

A green tree frog in Australia was air-lifted nearly 800 miles to receive medical treatment after a woman accidentally ran over it with her lawnmower. Felicia Morgan coordinated to have the frog flown from Mount Isa to Cairns after her aunt Min Tims called her, devastated by the accident. Deborah Pergolotti, president of Frog Safe frog hospital in Cairns said the frog was fortunate the two women had the initiative to seek care for the animal and said it was recovering well. Photo by Andrew Lam/Shutterstock             MOUNT ISA, Australia, June 7 (UPI) -- An Australian woman went to extraordinary measures to care for a frog after she accidentally ran over it with her lawn mower. Min Tim’s ran over the green tree frog while mowing her lawn and subsequently contacted her niece Felicia Morgan and told The Brisbane times that she asked her to "say prayers" for the frog. Man bitten by 14-foot python comes back to catch it two days later

Karl Davies laughs while helping to catch the python that bit him in the leg during a hike in Hong Kong. Screenshot: Karl Davies/Facebook    A British man who was bitten by a python while hiking in Hong Kong returned to the same spot with a trapper to capture the 14-foot-long snake. Karl Davies, 49, posted a video to Facebook showing him helping professional snake catcher Dave Willott capture the large python at the side of a trail in the Sai Kung district Wednesday, two days after he first encountered the snake. Davies said he was walking his two border collies with friend Andrew Chambers when the python, which he had spotted during previous walks, made its appearance. "I walked past the place I'd seen the snake before and it wasn't there," Davies told the South China Morning Post . "The next thing -- bang! -- The python jumped out of the bush and sank its teeth into my leg. It got me around the lower calf." He said getting the snak...

Street named after Tuface Idibia in Kenya

Last Updated: 1 hour ago Tuface Idibaia is currently in Kenya with his beautiful wife, Annie Idibia. The couple seems to be having a great time in the country. Photos of the duo have been surfacing on line since their arrival in Kenya. Though he is there for a show, but a little relaxation is also cool, just like a little get away. Kenyans seems to be in love with the Ace singer, as they decided to name a street after him and calls it, ‘Innocent Idibia Street.’ This is actually a great achievement for the living legend, as he gets honoured and appreciated in this manner. Having a street named after someone is a form of respect that shows how much that individual is loved and respected. No doubt Tubaba is loved and respected in Nigeria, but no street in Nigeria has been named after him. Isn't this a shame to our country? Just like the saying goes, 'a prophet is not known in his home' is exactly what played out, our own is been valued more outside the cou...
